Michael Chuber

Background

Michael Chuber owns Selective Associates Inc. and has worked in insurance for more than thirty years. He leads commercial sales across the New York and Florida offices, and takes personal clients as well as companies.

His background is risk management. Most of his commercial work has been with technology, finance, construction and manufacturing firms, where the useful question is usually what a policy will not cover rather than what it will. In practice that means reading the exclusions before the limits, checking how two policies behave where they overlap, and finding the gaps a certificate of insurance will never show you.

Personal clients get the same approach on a smaller scale. Most people are told what a policy costs and very little about what it does, and he would rather walk through it once properly than have that conversation after a claim.

He speaks regularly on strategic planning, risk management and coverage gaps, at conferences, on podcasts, and in webinars for groups that want the subject in plain language. He has supported a number of charitable organizations for years.
