By having multiple vehicles on the same policy, it does indeed save you money! Maybe you have a motorcycle - some companies will allow your car and bike on the same policy, cutting some costs out. Maybe you aren't married yet, but your partner has a car and is living with you - some companies will allow you to buy a policy together, allowing you to save some extra cash! Maybe you have a car in your home state and another car at your vacation home state...did you know if you have the same company they may give you credits for having two policies with them!

"Deductibles" are what you are responsible for in the event of a claim. Most companies offer deductibles which will range typically from $0 to $2,500. The higher the deductible you select, the lower your premium will be!

Other than collision coverage, also known as comprehensive coverage, is what covers YOUR CAR for any damages caused by events out of your control. Deer? Rocks? Bird flying into windshield? Potholes popping your tire? Tree fell onto the car? Hail denting the hood? YES, that all falls under "other than collision or comprehensive coverage".
IZZY $AVING$ TIP:
Collision is generally the more expensive of the two, and most people find they forgo all coverage for their car when the car gets really old. Remember that while you can't have collision coverage without comprehensive, YOU CAN buy comprehensive by itself at a minimal cost for some protection.

As a homeowner, you should always check with your auto & home companies to see if they offer coverage and can package the policies for a greater savings. While some companies only insure home or only insure autos, most of the big companies do both! There are even a few cases of companies giving a discount even when they don't insure the home, as long as an insurance agent (like us at SAI!) has both the auto & home policies in their same office. Even a renter can take advantage, they just need to buy a home policy for their apartment. Their policy may be different from yours since they just need coverage for their "stuff" in the apartment, but they can still enjoy the savings!

If for some reason you can no longer pay in full, we suggest at least signing up for automatic installments. Not only will you not have to remember to make payments, but the companies will give you a discount on premium and/or installment fees. If you have a 12 month policy you can even ask to see if the company will offer a discounted 2-payment plan.
